Clinical Dietitian
The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for coordinating, planning, and conducting programs in collaboration with physicians and advanced practitioners to educate Springfield Clinic patients about nutrition and administering medical nutrition therapy. This role also involves developing and implementing programs for the general public, community organizations, and professional staff.
Job Description
- Formulate menus for therapeutic diets based on the medical and physical condition of patients and integrate patients' menus.
- Develop and implement a plan of care based on the assessment of nutritional needs and available sources, correlating the plan with other healthcare.
- Provide nutrition education and bill for services.
- Provide nutritional care and services to Springfield Clinic outreach locations.
- Provide appropriate nutrition intervention and strategies of goal setting, based on nutrition assessment, to achieve improved health outcomes through dietary changes.
- Evaluate, interpret, monitor, and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines.
- Develop, review, update, and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients and professionals.
- Special interest in working with all referring departments of Springfield Clinic to meet patients' needs for nutrition assessment and counseling.
- Consult with physicians and other healthcare personnel to determine patients' nutritional needs and diet restrictions, such as low-fat or salt-free.
- Document nutrition care plans and information into patients' medical records.
- Instruct patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
- Actively participate in Clinic Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) development activities.
- Provide direction on future program planning, clinical quality improvement, and benchmarking to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
- Participate in staff and community education through presentations and written information.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university providing curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- At least one (1) year of clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian.
- Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic keyboard and computer skills.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Environment
Clinical office environment.
