Occupational Therapy Assistant
Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed, Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), this position involves direct patient services, such as contributing to the evaluation process and carrying out prescribed treatment. The role will be treating patients on two psychiatric units in either group or individual settings. This position also includes supportive activities, such as inventory control, in-service education, and general department maintenance. The employee will attend select meetings for the division and/or department. Other responsibilities include communication and coordination of occupational therapy treatment programs with the patient and team members. Those in this position must be trained to provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment for patients of all ages, with additional education and experience focused on psychosocial rehabilitation and care of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Job Description
- Contribute to the evaluation process and carry out prescribed treatment for patients.
- Treat patients on two psychiatric units in group or individual settings.
- Participate in supportive activities such as inventory control and in-service education.
- Communicate and coordinate occupational therapy treatment programs with patients and team members.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification preferred.
- Certified by the National Board for Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred.
- State licensure required.
- Ability to conduct assessments directed by a Registered Occupational Therapist and assist in formulating and implementing relevant OT interventions.
- Up to 1 year of fieldwork experience.
