    Join our team at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio, where we offer great benefits and paid time off. This part-time position (24 hours/week) provides the option to pick up additional hours. The role primarily covers inpatient care but also includes some outpatient appointments and classes. Travel is required once a month to Pavilion (Montgomery) or Western Ridge as directed. Additional shifts at larger sites (e.g., Bethesda North, Good Sam) are available if interested. The schedule includes every 9th weekend, mostly remotely unless there is an immediate need on-site.

    Job Description

    • Plan, directly participate in, and document all aspects of the nutritional care of patients in assigned areas.
    • Perform nutritional assessments and document nutrition diagnoses based on guidelines outlined by the nutrition care process.
    • Discuss nutrition diagnoses and provide nutrition counseling that outlines nutrition goals with patients, families, and other team members when possible.
    • Collaborate with internal and external resources to implement the nutritional care plan.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the patients' nutrition care plan and revise it as needed.
    • Relate basic principles of nutrition to staff, healthcare team members, and the community.
    • Review current research to enhance professional practice.
    • Serve on at least one hospital committee and provide pertinent feedback positively impacting decisions that affect the department, hospital, and community.
    • Demonstrate awareness of professional time management and use time efficiently and productively.
    • Be open to change and have the ability to alter tasks with minimal loss of efficacy.

    Requirements

    • As of 1/1/24, new practitioners are required to have a Master's Degree in Dietetics. If eligible or registered prior to 1/1/24, a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics is required.
    • A dietetic limited permit is accepted upon hire.
    • Required to pass the RD exam within 6 months of hire date. Applicants not on a limited permit are required to have both Ohio Licensure and Registration.
    • General clinical knowledge of adult learning principles.
    • Up to 1 year of experience in a related field.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Clinical Competency/Continued Education: Utilize all components of the Nutrition Care Process in care planning. Write appropriate PES statements and document discharge plans consistently. Evaluate and monitor the effects of nutrition plans and practices and make changes as needed. Keep abreast of new nutrition research through continuing education opportunities, attending at least one educational session in focus area of practice a year, and keep CDR education record updated.

    • Patient Education: Assess patients' learning needs including cultural and religious beliefs, emotional and age-specific barriers, desire and motivation to learn, and diet history when completing patient education. Individualize patients' intervention goals and ensure documentation is complete per department standards.

    • Projects: Complete a small project or bright idea such as updating non-patient education clinical resources, publishing a nutrition article, conducting an education session on the unit, or organizing a journal club reviewing research articles with a group of Clinical Dietitians in the system.

    • Time Management/Flexibility: Demonstrate awareness of professional time management. On average, meet patient ratio goals. Demonstrate flexibility and adjust schedules to meet daily needs.

    • New Hire/Training and Development: Create a welcoming atmosphere, review trainees' documentation, observe trainees' patient interactions, and provide feedback in a constructive/positive manner consistently when training new hires and/or dietetic interns.

    • Leadership/Teamwork: Provide constructive feedback to move initiatives forward during department discussions/meetings.
