Clinical Support Technician I
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

A Clinical Support Technician I is needed for the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. The Clinical Support Tech I is a dual role of the Nursing Assistant I and the Health Unit Coordinator.
This unit is 24 beds and cares for adult patients undergoing transplant for hematologic cancers, solid tumors, metabolic diseases, and blood disorders.
This is a 36 hours per week position; working variable 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am) with weekend and holiday rotation. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours, which are accrued based on the number of worked hours. This position requires the ability to attend the required weeklong hospital orientation offered every two weeks.
Job Description:
- Assist professional caregivers in the delivery of patient care, transport patients and/or equipment, and set up and maintain patient rooms.
- Perform a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance functions of the patient care unit desk area.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures.
- Critically review patient care documentation and report any significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
- Provide clerical tasks including organizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, and maintaining medical records.
- Support administrative tasks including quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies.
- Provide direct personal care to patients, measure and record vital signs, and assist with specimen collection and other outlined care activities.
- Reinforce routine teaching given to patients by registered nurses or physicians.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must be fluent in verbal and written English language
- Capability to develop computer skills if not competent
