    Job Description:

    • Responsible for the dietary approach to the nutritional component of patient care
    • Plan and provide nutritional education to patients, families, staff, and community groups

    Responsibilities:

    • Assess the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making necessary referrals for continuity of care
    • Develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team
    • Deliver high-quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills, adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards of care
    • Conduct clinical education classes for outpatients, staff, and community education requests, such as Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehab
    • Utilize critical thinking in making independent judgments and maintain responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of the condition of assigned patients

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics/Food and Nutrition from an accredited program
    • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed by the state of Iowa or registry eligible
    • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all ages of the patients served on assigned unit
    • Able to perform physical assessment on patients that meet the criteria
