Job Description

• Assist the Physical Therapist in providing Physical Therapy services to patients in a correctional environment.
• Implement the exercise program outlined by the Physical Therapist.
• Progress exercises using available equipment and modalities.
• Utilize manual techniques where needed and engage in functional activities.
• Relate treatment to documented goals.
• Assess patient response to treatment and adjust exercises and other treatments accordingly.
• Identify any change in patient condition and notify the Physical Therapist of the need for reassessment.
• Keep track of visits and notify the Physical Therapist when reassessment and/or supervision is due.
• Document treatments and patient responses thoroughly.
• Maintain a professional relationship with other staff members and foster a positive work atmosphere through professional communication.
• Maintain a tidy, clean work area.
• Obey all security rules for medical personnel in corrections settings as outlined in DOC policies.

Requirements

• Associate degree in physical therapy as evidenced by a college diploma from an accredited PTA program.
• Current, unencumbered, and active license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Virginia.
• Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
