Job Description

• Operation of a 60-bed skilled nursing services program within the Coxsackie Regional Medical Unit
• Patients typically require closer monitoring and skilled nursing care
• There are no monitored/telemetry beds
• Daily rounds on patients
• Conducting comprehensive physical examinations, establishing diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans, initiating emergency care procedures
• Following a patient's course and discharging from the infirmary when appropriate
• Ordering, reviewing, and interpreting laboratory results, x-rays, and electrocardiograms, and discussing results with patients
• Prescribing/ordering medications
• Consulting with off-site subspecialty physicians/consultants and our Clinical Nurse Liaison, as needed, to coordinate plans of care and implement inpatient treatments
• Discussing disease prevention and providing patient education
• Ensuring and maintaining quality care
• Participating in interdisciplinary patient care meetings and addressing identified clinical needs of patients
• Serving as clinical lead, providing direction and oversight for the nurses

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• Fully licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment
• Current DEA registration
• Preferable board certified or board eligible in primary care specialty (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Public Health or Occupational Medicine) with administrative experience in corrections and/or managed healthcare delivery
• A background check, security clearance, and drug screening are required for this role
