Job Description

• Respond to and initiate care for those requiring mental health services throughout the facility.
• Assess inmate/patient in a variety of settings.
• Identify inmate/patient mental health problems and prescribe treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implement mental health services utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a psychiatrist.
• Provide mental health education to inmate/patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.
• Document all mental healthcare contacts.
• Adhere to safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills.
• Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegate to and supervise other appropriate infection control practices.
• Adhere to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited college/university Nurse Practitioner program with current PMHNP license/certification in the state in which working.
• Must have current CPR certification.
• Must be available to participate in on-call schedule.
• Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
• A background check, security clearance, and drug screening are required for this role.
